'Dear Daddy, Love Cassie" by Scarlett Ridgway Savage

DEAR DADDY LOVE CASSIE

"Dear Daddy: it's pretty stupid writing a letter to someone who's never gonna get it. I didn't really think I was still angry about your leaving, but he's the doctor.   Anyway, I guess I'm supposed to be writing to you about last Friday night. They say I tried to kill myself, but I'm not sure that's true...."

Thus begins the tale of Dear Daddy Love Cassie, written by award winning playwright Scarlett Ridgway Savage. Cassie traces the path of a young woman surviving a suicide attempt, struggling to come to grips with some of the horrors of her childhood by writing letters to her long-dead father. It's a tale of brutal violence, angst, recovery, and hope.

"It's a funny, often painful, even brutal....its mystery pulls you in, its angst adds to the tension, and both are blended with enough humor to keep your skin from  full-blown hives...it seeps into your soul, nudges your pains, and calls to your need to survive....."    Jeanne McCartin, Portsmouth Herald

"Tasty and enlightening.....it's an emotionally compelling piece...."  Bill Trotter, The Wire

"(Ridgway Savage) grafts humor and tragedy together like none I've ever seen.....as close to real life as the theatre has ever gotten...."   ......James Potry, WBOQ

"....gripping....genius ear for dialogue....(Ridgway Savage) is the most promising playwright from my alma mater...."  ----Stephen King
